What is waffletude?, you might ask. Why waffles instead of pancakes… pancaketude?

Do we take on the persona of our batter counterparts?

Think of it this way… What if you were to divide your friends into two groups – pancake lovers verses waffle lovers?

Pancakes are soft. They like to be stacked with their own kind rather than stand alone. To their credit, they can be international, a bit worldly like crepes, blennies and blintzes. Still they have a tendency to absorb syrups and become soggy. I have known many of my friends to pancake under the pressures of life.

On the flip side, waffles are crisp. Their honeycomb design gives them an added dimension. They maintain their crunchy exterior no matter what gets poured all over them. They won’t suck up to sweet syrups.  Pancakes and waffles may come from the same humble batter beginnings, but it is the waffle that seems to rise to the occasion with more style and substance.

It is for these reasons that I choose waffles.

Waffletude? Is that even a word? Anything can be a word. Who ever thought Google would be the universal term for researching information about everything? There is a plethora of new words like: twerk, selfie, phablet, buzzworthy, emoji, and butt-dial. Why not waffletude?

Waf.fle noun a crisp pancake; To talk foolishly.
